Class Registration Policies

You must be pre-registered to attend classes at SunFlower Quilts.  Full payment is required to hold your space in any class. We accept cash or checks made out to the teacher's name. Once registration fee is paid you will receive a supply list for the class.  All supplies are available at SunFlower Quilts!  You may cancel a minimum of 5 days before class to receive a class registration refund.  If we must cancel a class, you will be fully refunded the class registration fee.  Please arrive 10 – 15 minutes before class begins to set up your sewing machine etc. When a sewing machine is required please be familiar with it and remember the foot control, all accessories and owner’s manual. Cellular phones should be turned off as a courtesy to other students.  If the minimum students are not filled the class will be canceled.

 

We offer private classes. Just give us a call or email to discuss your class.

 

 

Basic Rotary Cutting

 

Learn the basics of rotary cutting plus some tips.  Accurate cutting is an essential part of quilting.  This is a great beginner class and will be a required class for future classes.

Basic ¼" Seam Construction

A great class for beginners!  This is the class to take after the basic rotary cutting class.  Learn to sew accurate ¼” seams.  Must have rotary cutting skills.

Squaring Up Blocks Class

 In this class you will learn the importance of squaring up your quilt blocks.  You will learn that if you square up your blocks before sewing them into the top how much easier it is to assemlbe your top. Patterns and most books don't emphasize this important part of quilt construction so we want to teach you how!  When you learn the importance of squaring you will build confidence in your quilt making!

Basic Binding Class

Are your bindings not all that you expected them to be?  Then come to this class to learn foolproof ways to finish your quilt with a beautiful binding!  Mini quilt provided.

Basic Bias Binding Class

Do you have curved quilts that need bias binding?  Then this is the class for you.  Learn the basics to make bias binding, it isn't hard at all!  Mini quilt provided.

Basic Paper Piecing Class


Learn how to paper piece using the Carol Doak method.  Paper piecing is very easy when you use the Carol Doak method.  You will learn the basics of paper piecing in this 2 hour class.  Some blocks are made easier when you paper piece them, build your confidence with this fun easy method!

Hand Quilting

Learn to hand quilt painlessly. You will enjoy hand quilting even more than you thought possible.

 Pillowcase Class

Learn how to make standard, travel and sideways pillowcases.  We will show you the fun and easy way!  You will complete all 3 pillowcases in the class.  Hint: they make great stocking stuffers!

Basic Fusible Web Machine Applique Class

Learn the basics of machine applique using fusible web and stitch the applique with your machine.  Its really fun and easy to do!

Flying Geese and 1/2 Square Triangle Blocks

    

 

Flying geese and 1/2 square triangle blocks are used in lots of quilt blocks as well as quilt designs.  Learn how to make these blocks the easy way using your basic square rulers.  You will learn tips to make accurate flying geese and 1/2 square triangle blocks, they really are easy!

Basic English Paper Piecing

 

Have you ever wanted to know how to make the traditional Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt?  Learn how to do the English Paper Piecing technique!  It is easy and addicting, plus you can take it with you where ever you go.  It is a great hand technique.  No sewing machine required.

Machine Quilting for Novices

In class we will learn how to use the walking foot with the edge/seam guide and for gentle curves.  Also we will do a little beginning free motion quilting.  This is a beginning machine quilting class taught by a wonderfully talented machine quilter!

Intermediate to Advanced Machine Quilting


Ready to move on with your quilting? Learn to do a simple over-all design, three types of feathers, and several background designs. Most are done without marking. You must have a working knowledge of free-motion quilting. NOT FOR BEGINNERS. This class is for quilters who have already done SOME machine quilting.  According to previous students this class “is a great confidence booster”!

Trash To Treasure Pineapple Quilt

Are you ready to “turn nothing into something”!  This is the concept behind the

Trash to Treasure Pineapple Quilt .

Join Beth as she guides you through your stash of fabrics to create a treasured

Pineapple Quilt.  Using the Pineapple Tool created by Gyleen Fitzgerald, you will learn

to make pineapple blocks with abandon!  See how easy and accurate it can be. This

quilt was hanging at International Quilt Festival this past November!  We're excited to

have Beth teach her class at SunFlower Quilts!

Cathedral Windows Class


In this class you will learn the Cathedral Windows technique using your sewing machine (if you are interested in learning how to do it by hand let me know and I can show you that as well). I will take you step by step to make Cathedral Windows using folding techniques with some tricks along the way to make it easier!
